First Covenant Church began in the 1870s when a group of Scandinavian immigrants began meeting together for informal worship services The Twin Cities have changed a lot since then and so have we (we even speak English now!). Our focus remains on Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. He is at the center of our lives and community. Our mission is to be a center for Christ-filled renewal giving hope and help in the heart of the Cities. And yes, we still get an occasional visitor from Sweden. |
In 1874 the church was officially established as the "Svenska Evangeliska Lutherska Missionsforsamligen i Minneapolis, Minnesota". Our church building has been located on 7th Street and Chicago Ave. since 1887.
